Paul is a skilled business man and a sharp entrepreneur. I have seen him focus his talents on a diverse number of projects, but the first time we worked together was for PM Trading. Paul executed a 100 m3 build of a refrigerated warehouse, utilising an innovative ring and raft "floating foundations" to build on the tricky reclaimed land of the Ouse Valley estuary at Newhaven. Paul was able to communicate technical matters using clear and concise language and effectively balanced management, leadership and team work, such that I find myself in good company having previously worked for Paul over a period of three years.

I first met Paul when I was teaching psychology at the University of Sussex, where Paul was a mature student or more properly the very model of the mature student. Read more than the tutor, asking more penetrating questions than all his peers, and writing devastatingly insightful essays. But Paul's work had touched and influenced me many years before we met in the seminar room. The extraordinary exhibitions that he has put on in Lewes - from Rodin to Henry Moore - have galvanised and excited the town in a truly dynamic way. As a social entrepreneur, as someone who can bring together individuals and organisations to work for a higher goal - specifically HIS higher goal of the project he is leading - Paul is second to none.

I lead a Self Selected course that shows how the alcohol industry works in the UK. The course uses 7 levels of analysis to show how we may be encouraged to imbibe alcohol at higher levels now than ever before. The main thrust of the course is from the discipline of psychology. I have just returned to this teaching after a year off, making this the fourth year. There are two eight week modules per year, about ten students per module. I was one of four Non Alcoholic Trustees and Board Member of Alcoholics Anonymous GB. We are present on the board for balance, to attend functions on behalf of the organisation and to contribute any specialist skills that we may have. The position was unpaid. During my time there I was given the best trustee training. This has set me up for any future trusteeship that may come along.
