St Anne's Community Service was looking for evidence that their services include a 'person centred approach'. A Person Centred Approach is based on theory from Dr Carl Rogers, a pioneer in humanistic psychology, that by placing the patient around that centre of the treatment, it is much beneficial. An audit was designed by St Anne's, my role was to collect data from eleven different care homes which would assess their progress on their person centred approach. Once all data was collected it was then interpreted to compare scores with previous years and also trends in the data. A conference allowed all care home managers to meet and discuss the findings. Action plans for the forthcoming year were developed by each care home, which would then be reassessed in the next meeting. The skills required for the role consisted of excellent time management in meeting each care home, good communication, mathematics and IT abilities to interpret the data by using MS Office for each of the care home managers.
