Aug 2009 - Present
Since starting at MDRC I have worked on several grant projects as a Community Inclusion Specialist. Working as a team member on the Including Our Neighbors grant (ION) I set up conferences to help groups understand disability pride. The groups took what they learned and applied for ION mini grants to open the door to accessibility in their organization. I helped picked the group and advised them on inclusion. Through an education grant I got to speak with Ingham county high school classes about disability pride. It was a great experience for the kids and will be part of my workplan in the future in a different school district Now I work through a grant Connections for Community Leadership (CCL). I have speaking engagements to the disability community in Michigan. I also got to speak to classes at MSU and Baker College. In December 2014 I get a chance to speak with Micah Feldman during a presentation entitled “An introduction to Disability Pride, Culture and History” at the TASH conference in D.C Show less
