Looking for opportunities in the rail industry with a focus on Supervision or as an electrical technician on locomotives. I have many years working autonomously in a role similar to a service engineer. I also enjoyed my role as the Supervisor of a team of technical specialists. In the role of supervisor of the team of specialists we were able to increase the availability of the fleet from 65% to a consistent 90% within 3 years. The result was achieved through allocating tasks daily to the team to ensure that the work being performed on the fleet was the best option and if not quickly modify the tasks to receive that result I.e. make a modification to a piece of equipment or a procedural change to a document, bring the locomotive to the shed for investigation. I have qualifications as a Trainer / Assesor / Group Instructor since 1992 and during that time have developed and delivered numerous instructional courses to the trade staff in Aurizon's rollingstock maintenance depots. I also have an Internal Auditor's certificate

As a team we were able to reduce the number of faults per loco per year significantly and increase the availability of the fleet from 65% to 90% within 3 years.I supervised the day to day operation of a team of 14 talented & motivated Technical people who were experts in their chosen trade fields i.e. Electricians, Mechanical Fitters and Electronic Technicians. The members of the team were distributed across 3 depots in Queensland - Gladstone(Callemondah), Mackay(Jilalan) and Bowen(Pring).I ensured that the daily duties of the team included assisting or providing technical advice to the trades people on the depot floor to repair faults both in the depot facility or on track. I would communicate daily with the members of the team on duty to discuss ideas on improving the reliability of the rollingstock through implementing modification or procedural changes to work documents. We would also discuss any rollingstock faults in traffic and what action would be required to facilitate appropriate repairs i.e. return to loco to the depot for investigation or request a download of the computers to peruse the files for faults. We also monitored the operation of locomotives and wagons with the objective to be proactive in reducing any recurring faults or trends that are noticed during our daily surveys taken over the last 24 hours. My role was to co-ordinate, provide support and advice to ensure that the best option was taken and that was shown to have worked with the improvement in locomotive availability.
