At Wilsonton State High School I oversee Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Science, and Mathematics lessons for years 7- 12. Furthermore, I act as Year Co-Ordinator for years 10-12 and manage learner records by documenting learner progress and recording attendance. Supporting students preparing for examinations, I conduct best practice research to adapt my teaching methods based on individual students’ capacity/learning abilities. Finally, I serve as a mediator between students and the school management teams while maintaining communication with parents/guardians; reporting on learners’ performance, addressing any issues including additional support for struggling learners. Noted achievements include: • Acted as Deputy Principal in absence of substantive Deputy Principal and Principal between 2018-2020 and as HOD for Science/IT for Term 2 in April 2016. • Founded the Wilsonton State High School Student Senate in 2020; a student lead body that fed back to the school Principal and Deputies directly, giving students a clear voice in the school. • Boosted curriculum to meet learner objectives by creating assessments, formal tests, and formative/summative assessments throughout academic year to monitor student's learning progress. • Co-organised a Biology Teacher PD centred around ecology field trips in conjunction with Amaroo EEC / Murray Darling Basin Authority in 2013 • Queensland Teacher’s Union Representative. • Mentor and Coach for beginning Teachers (Education Queensland training completed) as well as Pre-service Teacher Mentor. • Local Consultative Committee; Member • Currently facilitating USQ Alumni Mentor program for Undergraduate students • Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator from May 2016 onwards. • QCAA: District Regional Panel Chair – Biology; Toowoomba District (Queensland Curriculum Assessment Authority); coordinate/lead meetings and deliver critical feedback to all schools in District. In addition to conducting best practice research to pinpoint benchmarks for instructional strategies and teaching methods, I acted as a mediator between students and school faculty as well as Lead Teacher and Program Writer for the Archimedes gifted, and talented program aimed at Year 9 learners. Other duties included maintaining communication with parents/guardians, reporting on learners' performance and educational progress, and escalating student issues with the school faculty to aid struggling learners and/or address behavioural issues. Finally, I managed student records/database and documented learner progress, attendance, and teachers notes.
