Piping Estimator | Safety Manager | PM
-
Nov 2013 - Present
By trade, I am a Local 393 Union Journeyman Pipefitter. I am currently operating as a Piping Estimator, a Safety Manager and a Project Manager for ICOM Mechanical Inc. in San Jose, CA. My role as a Piping Estimator at ICOM involves going on job walks and meeting with clients for pre-construction meetings and bid interviews, compiling, sorting and organizing project related information and creating a comprehensive and competitive piping (Plumbing, process piping, mechanical piping) bid / proposal to help bring in new work for the company. As ICOM’s Safety Manager, I help organize and manage programs and activities designed to reduce the risk of accidents, as well as to decrease accident and injury related costs. I work closely with supervisors and employees to create and implement policies and safe work practices to help keep all of our ICOM employees safe and to help protect company and client property at the same time. Also, over the last year, I have been creating and maintaining a company-wide online newsletter that features monthly reports on general incident trends and accident prevention methods, as well as general company related information, such as upcoming events, employee recognition for special achievements and upcoming job projections. I particularly enjoy giving attention to successful high profile projects, lifts and a job well done. As a Project Manager, my duties include the coordination of various projects through planning, ordering of materials and equipment, securing and scheduling manpower, meeting and coordinating with customers and all other trades in order to successfully complete projects correctly, within the budget and on time. I worked in many different facilities and in many different capacities during my time at DSI. Everything from their fabrication shop in Buda, to Samsung's multiple plants, to Applied Materials, Freescale Semiconductor and even at the Global Foundries site in Malta, NY. These experiences are truly what made me the well rounded pipefitter that I am proud to be today. I worked with so many excellent mechanics over the years and tried my best to retain some of their wisdom and knowledge. It has helped me in ways that I am still discovering to this day! Show less

My first true construction experience was working for JW McClenahan as a first year plumbing apprentice at Valley Medical in San Jose, CA.
