It has taken 30 years of product development, testing and analysis of all aspects of a build system to bring Eco Building GRP to the market. Using MMC we produce a closed panel modular build system. Factory built on a flowline system to minimise build cost, maximise productivity and quality control and eliminating weather constraints. The complete building fabric with all specified components installed is ready for site completion. For sites with difficult access or on route restrictions we dry fit, then dismantle and transport all sections to be re assembled on site. A flexible approach to minimise transportation disruption. At the heart of our Eco Building GRP system is our modern materials of choice, GRP Composite combined with natural aggregates. Materials which do not degrade, do not rot, rust or corrode and are virtually maintenance free both inside and outside of the house and last a lifetime. A different approach to building spacious homes whilst retaining the look and feel of traditional “brick and tile” houses. A fabric first approach to low carbon sustainable homes. Utilising high insulation levels with no thermal bridging and maximum air tightness we produce homes equivalent to level 5 of the code for sustainable homes. Show less

What attracted me to this role was that it is based within the logistics sector, which I have always had an interest in. It also uses a mix of new technologies and existing ones I am familiar with, with the intention of expanding. Since starting here, while most of the support has been desktop based, I have been able to use my Windows experience to migrate many customer sites from legacy 2003 systems as well as learning and documenting unfamiliar software and hardware such as Citrix Xen and HP Blade servers. I went into this role with the understanding of taking some of the POS support with me, with also good career opportunities. On top of this, I was an IT support engineer for both Windows and Linux systems, supporting many small businesses and primary schools. The bulk of the calls were over the phone with some on site work required mainly for installations. I progressed into this role to focus on the server implementation and to develop the existing software and infrastructure. One of my first tasks was to make changes to legacy applications to ensure that they ran more efficiently and without manual intervention using a combination of using SQL Scripts, Functions, Procedures along with SSIS to replace legacy DTS. I also oversaw the implementation and setup of a new website for the retail arm of the company, linked into the existing till system for easier support of transactions and stock control. Show less

    • IT Manager
      • Apr 2010 - Sep 2013

I went into this role where my expertise was used to manage and support the migration from a 2003 system up to the latest 2008 R2 system. This primarily involved the migration from Exchange 2003 to 2010, as well as updating the AD environment. Additional I was asked to manage the migration of SQL from 2005 to 2008 and the install of Lync 2010, to allow the company to perform Live Meetings and telephony across the world and to be configurable for a VoIP phone system.Additionally, I am responsible on a day to day basis for ensuring that costs are always kept to a minimum and for purchasing from various suppliers. I also use my experience of SQL to generate various reports for SSRS for the management to easily see the performance of the company. I manage desktop users from XP to Windows 8 across three main sites, split into two domains, with individual international sales offices connected via VPN. On the server side I manage the controlled updates using WSUS, check the backups, monitor the infrastructure and ensure the smooth operation of all machines. I am always looking at ways of improving the existing infrastructure and testing and using new developments of software as it comes available. One of the sites is a retail site, so have also accrued a lot of experience and knowledge using epos systems such as MS RMS as well as managing the migration to a new system of, ICG Software, including the use of Bizerba Scales and Ocius Software on a child domain under the main forest.Skills that were required were:SSRS, SSIS, SQL DBA, Lync 2010, Exchange 2010, 2008R2 Forests & Domains, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, DFS, Remote Apps, PowerConnects, VMware, vSphere, EqualLogics, Exact Globe, ICG Software, Commidea. From this period, I continued my role in Production (See below), with additional tasks assigned to me in the management of the departments servers, as well as the administrations of the linux based servers. One of main tasks was to take ownership of the existing web servers, and rebuild them using server specific linux software, as well as building new ones. I also had to take ownership of the existing infrastructure, and advise ongoing for the replacement of old servers, as well as finding the best use for existing ones, ensuring that we use what we have in the best possible way. I worked at Peachey’s delivering fresh produce to numerous locations around the south east of England and central London. I began by driving a 7½ tonne lorry, but I latterly acquired both my LGV2 and LGV1 (Large Goods Vehicle) licenses and drove frequently a 48 tonne articulated vehicle. This position has given me the surprising opportunity to visit and explore literally hundreds of interesting places that I would otherwise have overlooked. During my final years here, I increasingly used my computing and managerial skills to re-organise and streamline many elements of the transport department. Show less

I founded VauxStyle because my experience within the motor industry had suggested to me that there was an opportunity for a specialist that could supply custom and tuning parts for Vauxhalls. During my time running the company, I negotiated deals to import and supply parts from overseas manufacturers and so provide them with a presence in the UK. Before I sold it, VauxStyle was a mail-order company with an on-line catalogue that was a great success. It earned wide recognition amongst the Vauxhall enthusiast community and it was featured several times in popular magazines. Show less

I had worked part-time in the leisure industry to supplement my income at college, but enjoyed it so much that when I was offered a permanent position, I accepted. I began as a Bar Support Supervisor, but was rapidly promoted until my final position of Bars Manager, which encompassed four venues linked together at the Festival Leisure Park in Basildon: Ikon, Diva, Jumpin’ Jaks, and Bonds. My duties during this time involved: ordering; stock taking; recruiting; disciplinary hearings; cellar management; front-of-house duties, and devising point-of-sale materials and promotions. As part of these duties, I created and maintained many Excel spreadsheets that helped co-ordinate the business; I used Oracle as part of the ordering system, and I worked with the industry standard EPOS (Electronic Point-Of-Sale) system.
