I was very careful about where I placed Paul when I put the class into teams. I recognized he would bring a great deal of experience to a team environment and project and also that he would be a presence that would bring maturity and a light touch to the teaming environment. So, keeping these qualities in mind, I placed Paul with a group of students who had less experience as Project Managers but who would be undermined by teaming with an experienced PM with a strong personality and the need to control all project processes, thus robbing less experienced team members with the opportunity to gain experience as leaders themselves. (This, after all, was a class, and one of the goals was to teacher leadership skills.) Paul exceeded all my expectations in this regard. He empowered team members to lead, as he knew, as only the best leaders do, how to follow someone's leadership as well when it was required of him. I think this in itself contributed a great deal to the harmony the team experienced. For the above reasons, I highly recommend Paul Horvat for any position as project manager where both mastery as a leader and exceptional interpersonal skills are required.
