Paul is a super clever, very innovative engineer. He’s really strong with CAD (a Certified SolidWorks Expert). He has a huge product design background, along with plastics, production equipment, automated machinery handling. Paul is always eager to step up and is an active member of our Sustainability Working Group. He’s a friendly, genuine character who we love having on the team.

Have worked across various Seconded engineering projects, working with clients as an addition to existing teams. Working for Sheetmetals LTD Via Caliber Design I performed design & draughting support for fabrication of architectural metalwork. Close involvement with fabrication workshop during design detailing. Coordination of site measure activity. Interpretation of architectural drawings and submission of drawing packages for PS1. Delivery of dozens of completed projects including complex office facades, balustrading, and various bespoke metalwork. Working for IMAGR Via Caliber Design I worked to further develop product concepts for their smart shopping basket and charging system. This involved developing a shared understanding for details important to the product and customer, communicating and resolving technical trade-offs for these. Test fixtures were designed and implemented for testing of important subsystems. Extensive prototyping work completed to evaluate product performance. Working for Giltrap Via Caliber Design I worked to update panels for an agricultural fertilizer spreader for a significant change in manufacturing process. This involved working with closely with a supplier to ensure features were within manufacturing capability. Working For ROCKLABS Via Caliber Design I worked on component design & drawings for release of a rock crusher. Assisted with supplier management to select components with suitable lead times. Coordinated engagement of contractor resource to provide strain gauging of the assembly, processed data for validation of stress analysis. Show less

Part of an enthusiastic team, responsible for development of Laundry products Focus on Laundry Dynamics, designing elements of the product exposed to high spin speed and vibration. Several highlights in role: Multiple successful trips to overseas factory sites, within China and Thailand. Worked assisting with factory implementation of new product, and advising on improvements to existing product. These trips provided opportunities to develop a deep understanding of the manufacturing equipment, processes to ensure part quality and develop my approaches to coordinate between factory stakeholders and design teams. Continued factory support tasks & project coordination remotely on return to NZ. Strong contributions to comprehensive stress analysis and test program. Performed extensive FEA within ANSYS. Coordinated product testing of strain gauged test product to validate FE predictions. Correlation of test data against analysis results. Developed fatigue life predictions of rotating assembly under wide range of adverse loading conditions. Facilitated regular reviews of key experts within team to maintain direction. Delivery of complex analysis package to project schedule. Quick turnaround on a test capacity extension, as needed to meet project timelines. Diligent coordination to align internal stakeholders, while providing information for budgetary approval. Was able to provide sufficient extension to testing space to meet project timelines, as well as provision for future needs. An innovative approach to this issue kept budget for this capacity extension low. Show less
