The Marketing Pool is a below-the-line marketing agency specialising in FMCG consumer and trade promotions including experiential and tactical activities. Our projects often include a wide range of in-store POS, trade presenters, activations, on-pack designs, micro-sites and social media assets. I am key in guiding the creative direction of all projects and am involved in every aspect from receiving the client brief and developing the concept through to all artwork and UI designs and builds. I have also designed packaging both from scratch and adapting existing designs/artwork to include on-pack promotions. During my time at The Marketing Pool our company has both grown and reduced in size with the ebb and flow of our work. Throughout it all I’ve remained both the art director and studio manager. I worked for a variety of clients on projects ranging from website design, banner advertising, promotional literature, newspaper design and corporate identities. Clients included: BBC, London Tourist Board, MTV Europe, Trocadero Shopping Precinct, Welsh Tourist Board, South Bank University and the National Children’s Bureau. Being self-employed, I increased my competitiveness in the London market by forming a collective of designers, programmers and marketing specialists working separately yet under one banner. This arrangement worked well and provided me with extensive experience in everything from client contact to project management and either working individually or with a team. Throughout this time, I also worked as a freelancer in a variety of agencies in London including Publicis and McCann Erickson. Show less

HFA is a leading transport and infrastructure consultancy with vast experience solving urban infrastructure problems worldwide. Increasingly, HFA was being required to provide more engaging and informative publications than their existing in-house studio could provide. I was hired as part of a small team to re-think how their in-depth content was presented to governments, courts and ultimately the public. As the only person on that team with any desktop publishing or digital experience (it was the 80’s), as well as traditional design and print processes, I spearheaded the shift to a digital studio with an effective network and proper back-up protocols. This position also allowed me to travel to the HFA project sites (such as Zambia, Pakistan and Nepal) where I worked closely with the HFA project managers and local employees to ensure all the worldwide studios followed the newly established procedures and standards.
