CareAvan provide full circle interior refurbishment solutions for caravans, motorhomes and the UK holiday park industry. Soft furnishings are manufactured in-house, bespoke to each job. Flooring, furniture and lighting are supplied and installed nationwide. As in many family businesses, I wore more than one hat in this role. Production, procurement and project delivery somehow seemed a natural fit with my role as sales & marketing director. • Cocktail Consultant
      • Aug 1999 - Jan 2002

I was approached by three movers-and-shakers from the Midlands music scene to train the front of house staff at their forthcoming cocktail lounge bar and fine dining restaurant, 52 Degrees North. It was a six week programme initially, until the opening weekend when I was asked to stay on as a freelance front of house manager. During my time at this cutting edge, celeb hang out we won 'best bar in the country' award, beating the likes of the Atlantic Bar, London. Collaborations with Toni & Guy, Cosmopolitan Magazine, Time Magazine, Hennesy, Jose Cuervo, Absolut Vodka and Havana Club. Show less

I was headhunted by a start-up, Living Ventures, to join the cocktail bar tending team at their inaugural concept, Via Vita. I was soon invited onto the training team, training and opening new stores nationwide. The training and skill set I learnt in my time with Living Ventures was invaluable, I still apply many of the theories, in my personal life and business, today. I will always be grateful for what this company taught and installed in me. From the experience I'd picked up from my part-time working in the Hyatt nightclub, I managed to get myself a job on the bar team at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club. I started off working in the live music room but it wasn't long before I was transferred to the busier front cafe bar and became the lead bartender in sales - and tips! Great music, great acts and great times at Ronnie's. I joined Hyatt as a trainee chef after finishing secondary school. Not an academic, a career creating with my hands very much appealed. All was well untill I began working in the hotels nightclub at the weekends, I soon discovered my passion lay front of house, interacting and entertaining guests did not feel like work, more like a hobby.
