The Paddock to Reef program, commonly known as P2R, is the monitoring component of Reef Plan. Beginning in 2003 Reef Plan is a joint state and federal government initiative aimed towards reducing nutrients, pesticides and sediments entering the GBR lagoon from diffuse agricultural origins. The P2R program uses water quality monitoring and modelling tools across paddock, catchment and marine scales to measure and report on improvements in agricultural runoff entering the Great Barrier Reef catchments.
