Jan 1992 - Feb 2001
In 1992 - Orwak was at the forefront of promoting "In house" recycling to the retail/industrial sectors and had developed a broad range of equipment. I joined to sell the range of equipment to promote recycling in the S West and was subsequently promoted to Regional Sales Manager, running the whole of the Southern half of the UK, to include advising National Accounts such as John Lewis, Waitrose, House of Fraser, Gateway (now Co-OP), Arcadia, Westminster City Concil, Kensignton & Chelsea Council on routes to recycling. Due to the continued growth, the Company saw 2 buy outs in the time I was there. Show less

Area Sales Manager
-
Apr 1986 - Mar 1989
I was offered 3 jobs in one day and the person who interviewed me ended the interview saying "waste is endless", which stuck in my mind and I subsequently accepted the job. Started in Bristol selling skip/trade/roll on off services and at the time Biffa owned a Waste Compactor manufacturer, I visited the factory and was taught about the merits of waste compaction, reduce volume, reduce lifts, reduce transport. This stuck with me and soon afterwards I joined the Biffa "Task Force" to sell services to larger companies. At a given point Biffa decided to put on hold expansion plans in Bristol and I relocated to S Wales depot. I applied the same rules theere, being "Whats right for the customer is right for Biffa" and continued to grow the business with the introduction of new contracts and waste compactors. Show less
