Social Media/Digital Marketing Intern
-
May 2012 - Aug 2014
My internship at First Trust was a great experience and terrific learning opportunity for me. I reported to the Director of Social Media, and helped support the development and implementation of First Trust's social media program. I contributed to several major projects: • Market research • Design and development of First Trust's social media sites • Development of coaching and training programs for advisors and employees • Implementation of a social media management system in partnership with the Compliance Department • Organization of content sourcing and information flow. I was able to learn first-hand about the financial services industry, sales and marketing activities, asset manager/financial advisor relationships, and the role of compliance and technology in the industry, particularly as it relates to social media, which is at the very earliest stages of evolution in financial services. This experience helped me to continue to build my skill set in several valuable areas: project management, organization, creativity, multi-tasking, marketing, (particularly with digital media), communication, teamwork, and following direction from leadership. Landscaper & Home Improvement

Jul 2011 - Aug 2011
I was a member of a team that rehabbed houses. While the work wasn’t very "glamorous", it was a rewarding experience where we achieved tangible results. While I learned specific skills relating to landscaping and home improvement, I learned skills that I could apply in many areas of my life-teamwork, organization, project management, and work ethic, to name a few. This was a great experience being part of a team of teachers, coaches and players. Teaching and influencing children about sports, life, and Faith. It was a great opportunity for me to use my relationship and athletic skills in an entirely new way. I learned a lot about myself in terms of my caring for others, leadership, and teamwork, in a unique environment. This was a great experience being part of a team of teachers, coaches and players.
