Patti has worked on our behalf with Congleton's 16 schools to achieve Green Flag status; the 14 Primary Schools will achieve that in 2012, a rare achievement in the UK. It is Patti's skills and determination that has lead to success.

Eco learning launched August 2010. Eco learning works with schools and organisations to develop educational projects to address environmental issues. These projects deliver the “sustainability/ECO schools agenda” through the development of safe, outdoor learning environments. This practical hands-on learning creates a wide variety of habitats and activity areas, bringing enthusiasm, energy and creativity to school grounds and other environment-based projects. 2014 and 2015, I delivered Community Gardening Projects for Congleton. This involved working with eleven primary schools in 2014, resulting in ten back to back gardens on show to the public through the summer. In 2015, I worked with seven primaries together with a youth group, rainbows, beaver scouts, brownies and a pre-school to design and create eleven gardens and lots of displays based on 'Space and the Planets'. Both projects were part of the RHS Britain In Bloom & NW In Bloom competitions. Comments from the judges: "A mini Chelsea Flower Show, very creative, so brilliant I will introduce this to schools back in Birmingham". I have continued to work with volunteer groups on a variety of gardening and eco projects. 2019 saw the 6th year of back to back gardens and the introduction of the Wheelbarrow Challenge. Show less

Currently looking after 16 eco-schools in Congleton area of Cheshire. 13 of these 16 schools are now at Green Flag level, the remaining three are at silver. As a professional conservation biologist & trained Eco-schools Green Flag assessor I advise on setting up, progressing through from bronze, silver to Green Flag & on eco-topics, including schools grounds, biodiversity, energy, healthy living, waste & litter. Jubilee trees - planted a Cheshire variety of apple tree (Lord Derby) in each of the 16 eco-schools in and around Congleton, Spring 2012. Designed & planted Community Orchard for Congleton, with volunteers from CSG & school children from 7 local eco schools, opened by Fiona Bruce MP on 27 April 2012. 'Orchards for Schools' project - Eco learning has planted over 150 fruit trees with help from eco warriors in 22 Cheshire eco-schools. This project provides evidence for enhancing biodiversity, school grounds & healthy living eco topics. Cheshire Show - organised stand for Congleton eco-schools cluster in 2011 & 2012, 8 schools represented. 2011 awarded 2nd place in Schools Out Education marquee for capturing the essence of Cheshire & education based on food & sustainability. 2012 - challenge of an eco-Olympics theme. The stand was designed by Eco learning featuring Green flag projects, eco topics, & an energy challenge, awarded 'most attractive display'. Eco learning, on behalf of over 12 Cheshire eco-schools, has successfully applied for funding from local charities to work on environmental projects. These projects have included enhancing biodiversity in school grounds by creating habitats, planting wildflower meadows, orchards, hedgerows, vegetable gardens; flora & fauna ID sessions (trees, birds, wildflowers, bumblebees, butterflies).
