I am investigating the presence and distribution of two invasive crayfish species, Cherax quadricarinatus and Procambarus clarkii in Costa Rica, using an eDNA approach. I furthermore investigate the trophic role of the two species by analyzing their diet. The study I have conducted aimed at developing molecular techniques (DNA barcoding, cloning and Next Generation Sequencing) to characterize oribatid mite communities in soils. Protocols and PCRs optimization, primers design, high throughput sequencing using Miseq Illumina platform and data analyses and interpretation have been the prominent part of my work.
