  As a Technical Service Officer I had a very exciting time with the Navy, experienced and learned a lot. The sailing function on Hr. Ms. Zuiderkruis and Hr. Ms. Tromp as operational manager responsible for all technical systems, taught me how to deal with people at a young age, even in stressful situations. At the Navy I have completed university courses in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and safety science (and environment). I have been able to apply this knowledge in various positions. At the Mining Service I developed software to optimize availability (maintenance). At the design department of the Navy in The Hague I was able to carry out major modifications (including on drinking water systems) on existing ships. I was able to transfer my technical knowledge to the Technical School of the Navy. A completely different challenge was devising and implementing an operational Risk Inventory & Evaluation at the Marine Corps. Show less
