The program was developed by a law enforcement officer who was a 6 year member of his department's SWAT Team, the department's Active Shooter/Critical Incident instructor, the department's Defensive Tactics instructor, and a long time martial artist as a means of protecting his wife and her fellow teachers. In the past 3 years B.E.A.S.T. instructors have taught over 4000 people the tactical evaluation and survival techniques necessary to survive an "Active Shooter" situation.
