I was the first Branch Sales Mgr hired from outside the Company. I a few months, we had 10 new Reps, producing at high levels. Out of the blue, a new Manager above me must have felt threatened; called me on a Tuesday morning to inform me "They decided to go a different direction." I was not told I was fired. I was not told I was being let go. They hired me because I have a long successful history in building successful Sales Teams. At Bankers Life, I gained a reputation as an Agency builder. Actually began my career as a new Agent in Des Moines, IA. In 3 years, I was moved up through 3 middle management positions and assisted the Branch Mgr in growing our Agency from 5 Agents when I started to 30+ Agents. Then was offered to move to Scranton, PA to take over an office with 6 long tenured Agents. In less than 4 years, I was able to grow the Scranton Agency to 25+ Agents. We moved the ranking of that Office from the bottom 20% in production to the top 10% out of 165 Offices nationwide in production. The Co. offered to move me to Kansas City where the Branch Office was struggling. We were able to increase the Agent count to 30 Agents and were ranked in the top 10 in the Co. in total production. Bankers Life then asked me to move to Pensacola, FL where the Branch Office production was at an all time low. 6 years later, we finished in the top 10 in production with 40 Agents working from 4 offices in FL and AL. Change in upper management and compensation cuts caused me to leave Bankers Life. Show less
