Jan 1996 - Apr 2000
In this job I managed all the legal activities of Harbert Management Corporations. I supervised law firms all over the country and generated or reviewed most legal documents for the holding company. I drafted employment policies, securities compliance policies, designed training for compliance, reported to the Board of Directors and participated in strategic decisions for the company. I supervised the legal staff of the company. I also conceptualized the formation of Harbert Employees Reaching Out, which is the foundation through which employees of the company provide humanitarian assistance to family and individuals in need as the result of a sudden and unexpected tragedy. I started at HMC in 1995 as associate general counsel and managed over 150 lawsuits. I was promoted to Vice President and General Counsel over the entire legal department a year later. The last 18 months I served as complianc officer in order to limit travel and hours after suddenly becoming a single mom of 3 small children upon the sudden death of my husband. Show less
