Focused on four major genres of composition including the profile, the research report, the proposal, and the evaluative annotated bibliography. Engaged students in the practice and mastery of their writing skills in full-length argumentative and persuasive essays as well as literary analysis challenges. Encouraged students to foster deep critical thinking to enhance more textured and sophisticated college-level writing. Utilized many interdisciplinary texts including the Norton Field Guide to Writing, 2nd Edition. Incorporated various web-based tools and sources, all of which were carefully organized around a central, unifying theme. For the past two semesters, the students crafted their research and writing around the theme of social media. This concept inspired lively discussion and debate resulting in rich, higher-level analytical writing.
