Technical Engine Trainer
-
Nov 2014 - Feb 2020
Trained and certified by the Cummins Engine Company. I instructed and certified Cummins technicians and primarily Dealer Technicians in all aspects of engine repair such as Fuel Systems, Aftertreatment, Electronics, Engine Rebuild and Natural Gas Engines from 2007 through 2020. This includes ISB/QSB 6.7, ISL/QSL 8.9, ISX/X15, Natural Gas engines SL9G, ISX 12G, ISX 12N. Also taught advanced troubleshooting and computer diagnostics. One of the challenges of these classes was since Cummins Technology and repair procedures changes all of the time I had to constantly look for new changes, download information and add them to my curriculum in order to stay ahead of the learning curve.

Heavy Duty Mechanic

Sep 1995 - Feb 2005
I assisted in maintaining a 300 vehicle rolling fleet and I am responsible for the diesel engines and engine control systems for the Backup power generation systems at the Airport. As the lead I not only repaired vehicles and equipment I supervise four Heavy Equipment Mechanics on my shift, prioritize work in accordance with Airport directives, Assigned work to the mechanics, and insured the work is done properly and in a timely fashion. I also coordinated our maintenance efforts with the Equipment Maintenance Foreman and 2 other maintenance shifts and their Leads. I make sure repair parts were ordered and followed up on the orders with the parts department. The fleet consisted of runway snow removal equipment, Road Graders, Dozers, Dump Trucks, sanders, Tractors and trailers, front end loaders and 150 KW to 750 KW Diesel powered backup generators. ARFF Fire trucks and an assortment of other ground support equipment to support Airport operations. I performed both preventive and technical inspections of vehicles and major components to make sure equipment is road worthy. I rebuilt diesel engines such as Cummins, Komatsu, Detroit, GM 6.5 liter Diesels engines. I can also troubleshoot the newer electronic controlled diesel engines utilizing a prolink 9000 scanner. Other tasks I have completed are rebuilding transmissions, hydraulic pumps and hydraulic systems; control valves and made up new high-pressure hydraulic hoses. I have also rebuilt the back up generator engines and upgraded the engine governors and controls systems from old hydraulic governors to newer Electronic governors. I have also replace all components of Air and hydraulic brake system to include the foundation brake system.
