My research focused in development of mathematical and informatics tools for analyzing biological data or music processing. This research led to the development of several software. - TreeMatching Library in a plant modeling system: OpenAlea (since 1997). Open source project primarily aimed at the plant research community. Includes modules to analyse, visualize and model the functioning and growth of plant architecture. Member of the initiated team in 1996 and Open alea is distributed by INRIA Montpellier (France) in over 100 lab wordwide. - Virtual Laboratory (Vlab) : a plant modeling package developed at, and distributed by, the University of Calgary. Vlab system consists of : 2 L-system-based simulation programs, cpfg and lpfg; a modeling environment that provides auxiliary modeling tools and a graphical interface for creating and manipulating them; ... The software has been deployed to approximately 200 research groups worldwide. - Brasero platform. The purpose of this platform, mainly developed in Bordeaux, is to provide relevant and efficient tools for the RNA comparison problem that is essential in RNA bioinformatics. - BioSong: automatic identification of birds songs (under patents). - a Query-by-Humming application that received a price Music Information Retrieval Evaluation eXchange (MIREX) in 2006 and 2007.
