    • Teen Counselor
      • May 2016 - Aug 2016

Summer consisted of 5 weeks of Teen Camp, 2 weeks of Family Camp, and 2 weeks of Rental Groups. This all began after two and a half weeks of intensive training. I counseled 61 campers throughout the 5 weeks of Teen Camp. Camp CoBeAc all together had roughly 350 campers each week of Teen Camp and 30 or more families for Family Camp. During Family Camp and the Rental Groups, counselors had no campers, but focused on work projects and aiding the program staff. As a counselor, I spent every hour with my campers from Monday afternoon till Saturday morning. The work was challenging and exhausted your strength, mind, and soul each week. However, it was an honor to serve these individuals. I used a servant-leadership approach to managing cabin life. The drastic changes in group dynamics each week required me to adapt quickly. CoBeAc promotes the idea of making life-long decisions, not just "camp-decisions" as we call it. To help secure this, I kept close communication with sponsors to get advice and relay decisions my campers were making so they could provide effective follow-up. Much of the work I did consisted of managing and supervising adolescences. These responsibilities included, but not limited to, making sure campers were punctual to events, made aware and prepared for the activities, and being concerned with potential health issues (taking medicine, drinking plenty of water, getting enough sleep, ect.). Because it was a summer camp, I had an absolute blast working, but without a doubt my time spent there was invaluable. Show less

    • Intern
      • Sep 2015 - Apr 2016

My internship was based out of South Church, a local church that support the efforts of helping college students on Michigan State University's campus. I was recruited for this opportunity after only being involved with the organization for less than a year. It was a rewarding experience in many aspects. We had a minimum of 3 events each week. Every event I was involved with. We hosted regular small group times to help other members grow and become acquainted with the ministry's beliefs and ideas. Recruiting and building relationships were vital components of this internship. I loved this opportunity. Show less
