  - Supervise a team of eight Regional Education and Training Coordinators to implement AFSCME’s political, organizing, and leadership programs in 40 plus states including Alaska and Hawaii. Training topics include recruiting and mobilizing activists, bargaining, executive board leadership, coalition building, implicit bias, among others.- Lead the union’s national Racial Social and Economic Justice Program, including organizational assessments, curriculum writing, coaching and facilitation. In my role, I advise national executive leadership, over 50 state level executive directors, and equity committees apply a racial equity lens to their strategic priorities. This transformative popular education program helps to remove barriers to equity and inclusion in the workplace and develop programs to support union staff and union members of color.- Manage AFSCME’s Next Wave Program to engage and activate workers under the age of thirty-five. Initiatives include the production of the union’s first podcast #NoFilter, mentorship programs, succession planning, workshops and town halls on topics of interest to young workers. Show less

  • Responsible for managing and expanding relationships with national partners and identifying new and unlikely allies to achieve policy wins. In additional to coordinating quarterly national partner meetings, I am responsible for designing a Budget and Tax 101 Training curriculum to educate state legislators and build capacities of progressive organizations to become better messengers on fiscal policy issues. • Responsible for designing the State Fiscal Project team’s national training program to support the State Priorities Partnership organizations in their state campaigns and strategic plans, including planning an executing the organization’s largest State Policy Conference in 20 years. • As lead for the State Fiscal Project Team’s Racial Equity Leadership Team, I managed our racial equity consultant, facilitating planning meetings and tracked progress on incorporating a racial equity lens in our research analysis and improving processes within our organizational culture. • Provide guidance and hands-on technical assistance to state policy organizations in order to support state issue campaigns and shape policy debates, including developing tailored materials for state groups to use in their outreach efforts. • Led opportunities for our 42 states groups and state allies to share best practices across states through peer-to-peer communications via webinars, conference calls, and in-person meetings.
