I was learner and teacher of Grade 2 and 3 in a government school in Delhi. We focused on building values and mindsets to take ownership of our learning. 30% of students in class grew to grade level literacy in English, with an average class growth of 1.5 levels in the 2nd year. My students and I also organized a school-wide sports tournament, mobilizing support of the entire school faculty as part of our classroom's initiative to build a non-violent school environment through sports and games. As part of the School and Government relations committee I assisted in planning & execution of a showcase of all 5th grade classrooms for government officials in Delhi, to display Teach for India’s impact in the classrooms & invest them to expand TFI’s reach in the city.
