Project: TALETE - Tutela del pAtrimonio cuLturale da evEnti esTremi di prEcipitazione: il quartiere di Santa Croce a Firenze. Object: investigation of the hazard related to pluvial flood to which the cultural heritage safeguarded in the most vulnerable areas of the Santa Croce district is exposed. Tasks: 1) survey of the drainage system of historic buildings and “veiled” infrastructures; 2) geolocalization of the geometrical features of the network; 3) implementation of a 1D/2D dual drainage model (using InfoWorks ICM) to provide a comprehensive simulation of the hydraulic phenomena occurring within the sewer network and their impacts on the surface; 4) definition of strategies for mitigating the risk of pluvial floods. The research focused on the comprehension of hydrometeorological hazards striking African drylands and assessment of strategies aimed at the adaptation and mitigation of these threats. The investigation of such strategies combines both indigenous rural knowledge and advanced numerical modelling.
