Last year, I served as Paola Florencio’s Instructional Coach at City Year Miami, and I cannot recommend her more highly. As her Instructional Coach, I observed Paola leading small-group instruction in her classroom. Of the roughly 40 AmeriCorps Members I directly coached, I would say Paola fell in the top 95% based on her skill, empathy and professionalism. Paola is a powerhouse in the classroom. She was one of our strongest AmeriCorps Members in the Central Region, and this is partially due to the relationships she was able to build with her students. Paola's behavior management system in her intensive math classroom was one of the most creative ones I've seen. For this, Paola created an original game board running along the top of her classroom walls. Each student had a game piece that moved along the board based on their positive behavior. Additionally, one of the events Paola put on last year was leading her team in the planning of a perfect attendance event, which celebrated the students who had no absences the first grading period. This included more than 100 total students and she created certificates to honor those students. Being an AmeriCorps Member meant innumerable responsibilities and 10-12 hour days. Paola worked incredibly hard and never lost compassion or the smile on her face. She is a natural leader on her team, and consistently modeled what it meant to take on challenges as they came. Any organization would be lucky to have Paola on their team.

Paola is an incredibly tenacious self-starter who pours her heart and soul into everything she pursues. She’s a reliable natural-born leader who’s teachable and coachable. She would be an asset to any organization and company.
