I reported to Pankaj for about 5 years in Oracle Portal and WebCenter Product development. Pankaj is a great manager to work with. He brings very strong projects to the team and keeps the team fully engaged and motivated. He has a broad understanding of Oracle technologies and product architectures and provides the team with clear guidance. He drives the team to accomplish project deliverables without undue pressure.

Pankaj was my hiring manager at Oracle. I was reporting to him for over three years in the capacity of Oracle Portal's Cache component owner. In addition, I have been interacting with him for the past couple of years in my capacity as the ADF Caching services team’s manager. Here are my observations: ·In spite of he managing me remotely for the entire three-year duration, I had to visit his office only once! This goes to prove that he is not a micro-manager, but one who empowers his reports. He gave me lot of freedom in defining what the goals of the integration work that I was doing and provided me with adequate guidance when needed. ·Though he had given me ample freedom in taking care of the component I managed he was very knowledgeable enough to know every detail of the work I and my team were doing to the extent that he was able to put together a technical white paper capturing the intricacies and the functional details of the entire integration project that was quite complex and required a breadth of knowledge of the entire portal product. ·As a person he is very soft spoken. However, he could be demanding in spite of his non-aggressive style when it comes to targets and deadlines. This in my opinion is a good trait of a manager. ·Based on my more recent interaction with him and his team in his capacity as the potential customer of the product my team has been developing, he has been both encouraging and accommodative of the requests for requirements and inputs to augment the features in our product. This proves that he makes time out of his busy schedule to help explore what more he can do to improve his own product and also help my team's promising product. i.e. He grows and helps others grow.
