Beginning my tenure at The Willows Retirement Village, I worked within a small administration team and the care assistance team attending to roughly 270 separate units at any given time. Under administration, my main tasks focused on database information, general administration, and reception duties, as such communicate with poise and sensitivity with individuals from various backgrounds. Additionally, with the care assistance team, we were responsible for managing and assisting day-to-day duties, activities, and events for the elderly residents, and completing observations with the appropriate paperwork and archiving files. The PCW responsibilities do not replace those of a registered nurse, this village is assisted living only. Due to the crossover in both roles, managing the large workload required and utilised my time management skills. I strive to consistently assist my fellow colleagues to provide a more effective workspace. Within this role, I have amply highlighted my capabilities at building strong relationships with customers and colleagues, exceeding my job responsibilities, consistently assisting my fellow colleagues to provide a more effective workspace. Key aspects of this have been identifying necessary policy and procedural changes, exercising my innate attention to detail and adequately reacting promptly to emergency situations. Working in a care environment is often time restrictive, given the many emergencies that can arise, subsequently time management and the careful delegation of tasks is a vital skill to the role. Being in this environment I have learned to prioritise my time and seek assistance from team members to ensure the job is done while the residents receive the best level of care. Show less
