As project manager I was responsible for ensuring the successful and smooth completion of this project. The works were completed within a 'live' environment which presented me with numerous challenges to ensure the clients operations continued unaffected. The works included a full soft strip of furniture and finishes, significant structural alterations, new mechanical and electrical systems and a high quality architectural finish including bespoke joinery, bespoke ceilings, glazed screens, tea stations, toilets and reception. It was a pleasure working alongside a dedicated client and design team to deliver this project.

The SBI (Science Biology Ireland) building was constructed of RC rising elements. The building façade consisted of a Metsec frame work, cement particle board, Edpm, ridged insulation and a stone exterior. As a building designed to facilitate the study of science the building consists of high specification laboratories, offices, meeting rooms and clinical study rooms. The internal finishes consist of glazed screen systems, vinyl and carpet flooring, anti-bacterial ceiling grids, American white oak joinery and specialised furniture. The construction of the SBI involved the removal of the façade from the Charles Institute gable to tie in the new structure. The Charles Institute was live throughout the construction works including the mechanical and electrical commissioning works. As site manager on this project I was responsible for ensuring a safe and productive environment to ensure a high quality finish was achieved. I also liaised with the client to co-ordinate works with the adjoining and neighbouring buildings to minimise disruption to the existing tenants.
