Volunteer Parish Council
-
May 2014 - May 2016
The Parish Council makes the parish vision a reality, working with the Stewardship Committee to form concrete goals and lived expressions in the parish of the faith we profess. The five committees who form the Parish Council—Education, Liturgy, Operations, Outreach and Parish Life—all work toward these goals in their own way, according to their gifts and disciplines. They work as an advisory board to help Fr. Rooney interpret the parish mission in a way that is relevant to the community and effective in meeting the needs of the parish, and making that happen with full, conscious and active participation of as many as are willing to join in this work of the Church. Through the Parish Council the call of Christ to serve is extended to all, and the service of Christ is made real among us.

Our Lady of Grace Praesidium, St Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fredericksburg, VA The Legion of Mary was founded in Dublin, Ireland on 7 September 1921. It is a lay catholic organization whose members are giving service to the Church on a voluntary basis in almost every country. The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation in Mary’s and the Church’s work. The unit of the Legion of Mary is called a praesidium, which holds a weekly meeting, where prayer is intermingled with reports and discussion. The Legion sees as its priority the spiritual and social welfare of each individual. The members participate in the life of the parish through visitation of families, the sick, both in their homes and in hospitals and through collaboration in every apostolic and missionary undertaking sponsored by the parish. Every legionary is required to carry out a weekly apostolic work in the spirit of faith and in union with Mary.
