2 day hackathon sprint programming session working with 2 other designers and a team of 3 UX/UI designers to design, wireframe, write and present a working prototype application. Produced an application called Food Forest that allowed users who have urban farms and food surplus to share, vend and trade locally. The purpose of the app is to address food deserts in urban areas and allow small business/sole proprietors to better connect with consumers who are interested in local/slow foods. The team project was the winning project, and was deemed the most viable and closest to launch of all of the projects produced by competing groups in the sprint. Show less

This was a company founded by myself, my husband, and a third business partner. We focused on product ideation, prototyping and custom fabrication in a variety of materials. My role within the company was multi-faceted (as it always is with a small business). Below is a list of some of what I did for us: -Design: Participated in group design brainstorming sessions working in teams to create and present ideas for clients who came to us with an idea that they wanted to explore. -Modeling: Assisted with modeling designs in SolidWorks (CAD software), and proof of concept prototyping. -Training and Supervision: Trained and supervised teams of up to six members in a fabrication shop and light construction setting. Focused on providing easy to understand instruction and skill building for unskilled or newly hired employees, making sure that people were trained and on the job faster with confidence in the skills they had mastered. -Accounting: Handled cash and small business accounting using QuickBooks and Excel spreadsheets.
