  In both 2016 and 2020 I volunteered for Jeff Smith MP. I shadowed Jeff Smith in Parliament, attending Select Committees, party meetings, and witnessing debates in the House of Commons. I also worked in Jeff Smith's constituency office, doing administrative work and casework. This gave me an incredible insight into not only the working day of a politician, but the work done by staffers, both in the Westminster office and the constituency office in Manchester Withington.   At the National Association of Federally Impacted Schools I got to experience the different sides to policy and advocacy. From helping lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill for Impact Aid, writing articles for the weekly newsletter, and communicating with NAFIS members from all across the US I learned valuable lessons about political advocacy. During my time at NAFIS, we were able to successfully lobby on Capitol Hill to receive a $40 million increase for Impact Aid – the nation’s oldest K-12 Federal education program. Show less
