This freelance position has enabled me to implement many of my transferable skills obtained at university, such as analytical skills in reviewing the quality of a website and how it meets the needs of user queries. It has also allowed me to utilise my research skills to research information around sites to ensure that they are reputable and are of high quality. This is required to be done under a time limit showing that I can work confidently and manage my time effectively. In addition to rating tasks, some of my tasks also require my skill in being able to translate English and Welsh text in limited time allowing me to make use of my bilingual language professionally.

Tele-Fundraiser

Responsible for calling on behalf of several charities to update current members and new supporters on their ongoing work and to ask for financial support through a regular gift or an increase on an ongoing donation. Like the Aberystwyth University fundraising campaign, this role demonstrates my negotiation skills originally developed from previous roles but is furthered developed to the support of coaches who monitor my work and find areas for development to be even more confident and engaging in calls while also ensuring that supporters feel valued as individuals. However, unlike other telephone-based roles, namely telephone interviewing, which heavily rely on scripts, this role has a heavy emphasis on active listening and adaptability during calls.

Telephone Interviewer

Responsible for calling members of the public in the UK to conduct research on various topics while building rapport and engaging respondents throughout the survey completion process While the role itself seems similar to my previous interviewing work carried out years ago with the university, this role differs extensively. My work benefits heavily from the telephone-based skills that I developed over previous roles while offering an opportunity to expand my skills in different ways. Unlike previous roles where respondents would already have an established link to me (through either being a fellow student or an alumni of the university), this role provides a challenge on a day to day basis and goes an extra step than my fundraising work in the importance of building rapport as it is critical in maintaining an extended call. It also highlights my skills in multitasking through entering data while engaging and listening to respondents, honing my telephone manner as well as effective customer engagement.

Telephone Campaign Caller (Fundraising)

Continued fundraising for the Old College Appeal - Raised £10,000 individually While a similar campaign to last year's fundraising, this role demonstrated how significantly my skills in negotiation had developed in a short time through having raised over twice the amount from my previous year. I was also very honoured to have received the award for the caller with the most 'Aber magic', showing enthusiasm for a cause and that it reflected positively on alumni.
