I've been working with Ortal for more than 4 years in Mentor Graphics, she started as an intern (student) position and then she switched to a full time position as a software engineer. In the recent 1.5 years I've worked very closely with Ortal being her direct technical supervisor. The Mentor Graphics site was dealing with very complex topics of modeling of complete ARM/PPC hardware platforms aiming to run unmodified software images on virtual platforms (similarly to what's VMware does for x86 PC). Working in this area required a very deep understanding of hardware architectures, software/hardware interaction, good ability to debug embedded software including low level OS and drivers code in a virtual environments. Ortal is very smart, fast learning and agile person who was able to quickly understand this complex environment, and produce some real value in her work. She was able to do the needed work on schedule being standalone most of the time. She also demonstrated a good motivation to make constant progress on tasks she was assigned to and to perform them according to her own estimations. In the recent project Ortal was involved in modeling work for a complex programmable timer that included a micro code. For this component Ortal constructed instruction set decoder that performed translation of a target binary microcode into x86 instructions for execution of Intel x86 computer. I feel that Ortal can bring a real added value to any engineering team; she is also developing very warm and relaxed inter-person relationships with her colleagues that adds a positive energy to a working team.
