I worked with Om as part of a huge e-commerce re-write. Technically speaking, Om made huge contributions to the team and was a pillar of support for the more junior members. Om is a truly versatile engineer and can get himself up to speed on unfamiliar topics quickly; he has technical breadth and was comfortable moving around the stack as needed. I can’t think of a time when Om wasn’t happy to roll his sleeves up and dive in - whether that be Frontend, Backend, Infrastructure or Test. Om is curious, inquisitive and has excellent analytical skills, he writes well (rare) and can communicate his ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical staff. Om has a

Worked with Omri on a very challenging engagement. Omni was always an enthusiastic member of the team, keeping spirits high and contributing with ideas and solutions to problems. Would recommend Omri to any organisation that wants to get things done, and have a creative and motivated member of the team.

Created online application which uses expert system to determine which of the hundreds of mortgage products available from Deutsche Bank are applicable and best suited to clients. Re-development of existing (quite horrible !) system, my team's first job was to re-write much of the code, bringing it up to date with current best practices and paradigms. Worked closely with external design team and trained team in data management practices. Made business case for decentralized online news distribution. Made appointment of head of digital sales. Developed initial in house collaborative news production software. The digital arm of the business for which I was solely responsible quadrupled company revenues within 3 years. Client base grew from several dozen to over a thousand, with tens of thousands of trial client accounts assisting the sales process. Expanded capabilities and optimized business processes. Journalists and editors across three continents can collaborate on producing content. Integrated CRM which reported on sales progress, access and usage by potential trial clients. The CMS allows clients to individually configure XML content and associated secure digital resource supply in real time. Around 600 articles are produced and published daily, in real-time, then distributed in over 1000 distinct XML (or other) structures to meet varied client requirements. Digital asset management for images and video. Worked with 100's of different client technical teams in advising and assisting with implementations and integration solutions. Contained full suite of real-time management reporting and metrics capabilities. Additional Comments : Pioneered and constantly innovated the decentralized digital news market. It was a challenging organization to work for, with high staff turnover and the harsh ethos of Fleet Street though also the place I've had my biggest career successes. Technologies : PHP, MySQL, Cloud Platforms, Multiple Cloud Server Management, Apache, jQuery, javascript, CMS, Redis, XML ,Linux Sysadmin, Security, JSON, Python, ANF, RSS, Load Management, automated video processing Skills : Interface design, Large scale data provision, Client facing, resolving conflicting departmental demands, Market Analysis, Real Time Messaging, Infrastructure Optimization, BI, CRM, Security, Support, Reporting, Innovation, Business process optimisation, training, documentation.

Self funded start-up with the intention of building a universal, distributed business process modelling and CRM solution which could account for any type of business or organization, and communicate effortlessly with other instances. The task of building a kind of hybrid Changepoint / Salesforce / SAP system proved too ambitious for our small team working part time. Additional Comments : Though ultimately over ambitious the understanding gained around business process modelling and testing of the various CMS and javascript frameworks proved valuable. Technologies : PHP, MySQL, Cloud Platforms, jQuery, javascript, CSS, XML, Zend, CakePHP, FuelPHP, jQueryUI, VueJS, NodeJS Skills : Interface design, System Design, CRM, BPM, CMS frameworks

    • Head Of Technology
      • 2003 - 2010

Over an extended period I provided technology direction and production for 0800-Blossoms; working as a part time CTO for this internet florist. We later partnered with the US giant flowers.com where I was responsible for the technology provisions of their European arm. The first project was to building a new e-commerce system. Previously they used Actinic which broke down every Valentines day, resulting in 20% losses of yearly revenues. It also failed to account for the cost of PPC customers. The new system I delivered was robust enough to withstand the traffic spikes and also accounted for the cost of customer acquisition, at which point the MD realized that some orders were costing more in fees paid to click brokers such as Overture than the value of the order. We built an intranet which provided metrics, order tracking, automated billing, integration with their accountancy platform and automated 3rd party supplier transactions. It included a call center module increasing the efficiency and accuracy of telephone orders. This was a great company and situation. I was given the freedom and responsibility to shape its technology strategy where I delivered consistently positive results over many years. Former owner; James Blake, who has since sold the company is available to provide an undoubtedly glowing reference on request. Technologies : HTML, PHP, javascript, MySQL, CMS, Linux, Apache Skills : Business Intelligence, Security, SEO, Contracting offshore design and development, E-Commerce, Supply Chain, Intranet, Business Process Optimisation.

With Phusis Consultants and for Bourjois cosmetics Produced dynamic, networked planogramming software using Flash and Actionscript for the browser interface with SQL Server and ASP powering the back end. The software allowed each retail store of Bourjois products to “draw” the product display layout and which provided metrics. The analytics were then used to better understand regional and local preferences, with store layout design optimisations then fed back to individual retail branches. The provided metrics also allowed warehousing optimisation and predictive supply chain automation. Additional Comments : The actionscript driven interface was ground breaking for its time, but the solution wasn't just cool, it significantly increased profitability and improved the supply chain and warehousing processes. Technologies : ASP, SQL Server, actionscript, Flash Skills : Systems Design, User interface design, Analytics, BI, Supply Chain.
