       Undertake a risk assessment and support needs analysis. Explain legal, and if relevant, civil remedies and safety options to give a maximum understanding of the context for decision making. Develop an individual service plan to address risks/support needs. Where clients are assessed as high risk, refer on to Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (where available) following locally agreed protocols, attend and participate in meetings, follow-up on actions agreed in MARAC. Help clients to access services to which they are entitled, e.g. through setting up fast-track referral systems to sexual health follow-up services. Provide face-to-face and telephone support (non-therapeutic) to clients and their supporters where appropriate. Give appropriate consideration to the safety of clients and associated children or adults. Where relevant (e.g. domestic abuse cases or those where safeguarding concerns exist), keep other agencies informed about important changes in the client’s situation. Support the client or arrange for the client to be supported by other local services through the criminal justice system, explaining the procedures and their role and rights within the system. Subject to the views of the client, support the client through the investigation and during the No Further Action (NFA) stage or the trial phase in conjunction with Witness Services. Liaise with the Police and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) on behalf of the client, with the client’s consent and adhering to confidentiality policy in relation to the release of information. Keep the client informed about case progress on behalf of the police in line with the requirements of the Victims Code of Practice. Participate in case conferences with the Police, CPS, and Prosecuting barrister as required.
