      Target group: Vietnamese’s women in the Woolwich CommunityAim: To equip women to be able to use the computer confidently and independently to access information at different levels. Duration: 10 weeks (February 2010 –April 2010).This was a non- qualification course which helped women to discover and experiment how to use IT in their everyday venture. Twelve women enrolled on the course, 67% of who completed and got a certificate of achievement. At the end of the course, 50% of these women progressed unto main stream learning environment for further studies.

      Target group: Unemployed mothers, single mothers within the middle park community. Aim: To encourage personal development and confidence needed to get back to work. To gain the basic skills needed for everyday life and workplace. To acquire Numeracy level 1 qualification. Description: This project was mainly for women who have no basic skills, have been out of job for a while and those women who have never worked. The project was set up because over 60% of families within the community are on income support and benefit. Ten women enrolled on the course, eight completed and 75% gained the qualification.

      Aim: To ensure that the nursery staff have the right skills needed to provide an excellent service to their clients in a competitive environment. To acquire Numeracy level 1 qualification and skills for everyday use. Description: This project was tailored to meet the pressing need of staff at Thames Tiddler who: i. Are qualified nursery professionals but have some gaps in their basic skills at work because their qualification was achieved long time ago. ii. Want to secure higher qualification at the University. iii. Are non- qualified employees who want to have their skills recognized. Ten staff of nursery enrolled on the course, nine completed and gained qualification at level 1(100%). After meeting target at level one 45% of staff progressed unto Numeracy level 2 within the same year and 75% gained this qualification one of whom have progressed to higher education.
