FRMARFOR - French Maritime Force Command During four years, I have been "Lead Planner" (similar to a Project Manager) of several deployments of naval forces, operational missions and international exercises around the world. The Commander of FRMARFOR (COMFRMARFOR ) is the French on-call Flag Officer ready to take command of a Multinational Maritime Component, Task Force or Task Group. Whether called upon in time of peace, crisis or conflict, COMFRMARFOR is organized and equipped to take part in a national, NATO, European Union or coalition mission. COMFRMARFOR’s primary purpose is to exercise OPCON (OPerational CONtrol) and TACOM (TActical COMmand) of national and Allied maritime units anywhere in the world. COMFRMARFOR advises ALFAN (Admiral, commander the Naval Action Force, the parent headquarters ) and other naval and joint headquarters (EMO - French Operation Naval Staff - or EMA - French Joint Headquarter -) on all French led maritime contributions. When not deployed for an operation or an exercise, the battle staff works from a shore HQ (Headquarter), located in Toulon, South of France. From here, the staff executes planning for the forthcoming operations or exercises, and monitors real-world events or ongoing operations. Show less

Deputy Chief of the Naval Operation Center
-
Aug 2008 - Dec 2008
Monitoring, deterrence and support are the three main functions of UNIFIL’s peacekeeping efforts on the ground and at sea. After the 2006 Lebanon War, the UNIFIL Maritime Task Force (MTF) was established to assist the Lebanese Naval Forces in preventing the smuggling of illegal shipments in general and armament shipments in particular. MTF conducts maritime operations in cooperation with the Naval Operation Center (NOC) and Joint Operation Center. As Deputy Chief NOC, I was in charge of managing the watch teams of the NOC, coordinating the activities of MTF with Lebanese Navy and Israeli Navy. Show less
