      I joined the Dynamic System Modeling CRASH-UdeS team for the final project in my master's in engineering degree. I got to define and execute a 4-month project plan supervised by professor Denis RANCOURT. The project itself was simulating the temperature and phase-change front position during a percutaneous cryosurgery treatment of a lung tumor. It involved creating and coding a discrete model in time and space to solve a dual phase lag bio-heat equation for temperature in Matlab. A thorough literature analysis was made beforehand and it was found that a proper sensitivity analysis regarding the physical parameters of biologic tissues was lacking and thus the main project focus became the study of the characteristics of lung and tumor tissue in both frozen and unfrozen states and the model's sensitivity to variations in said characteristics.
