‘The use of the military forces to secure the favelas in Brazil’ research- 50-page deep analysis of the military use of force in Brazil for the public security within the favelas and against the drug traffic. - History of the Brazilian armed forces and the legislative framework to their missions - Role played by the military in the domestic security and relations between the armed forces and the police- Impact of domestic security missions on the military’s reputation- Special units- Role played by the Navy and challenges posed to the military for the shantytowns pacification process - Civil protest against the militarization of the security - Chronological order of the operations- The research process includes a large variety of military documents and military operations feedback reports. This work was enriched with regular consultations with the Brazilian Defense liaison military officer in France.Book review: Sous le feu, by Colonel Michel Goya- Review includes a short author biography, a contextualization of the book and a summary of the main issues raised by the book: Ground experienced military officer as well as historian, Colonel Goya uses his large experience from soldier to senior officer to depict the soldiers’ issues at war, putting men at the center of his analysis and emphasizing on the relation between men and death.
