My current position as a Student Assistant in the Unviersity of Tennessee's Presidential Office has provided me the opportunity to grow in my general office skills and management. I serve as the receptionist, greeting guests and facilitating who all is coming and going for meetings and appointments. On any given day, I might be given projects on Microsoft Word or Excel to complete for those in executive positions, including Interim President Boyd himself. I run errands for the office and, on home football game days, am responsible for transporting the President and other distinguished staff members to various tailgates and skyboxes, representing the student body to those in said positions.

    • Disney College Program - Attractions Cast Member
      • Jan 2020 - Mar 2020

As an Attractions Cast Member, I trained to fully operate one of the newest, most innovative and immersive rides in the world: Millenium Falcon: Smugglers Run. With over forty possible operational positions, no two days were ever alike. I successfully learned to navigate high stress and safety critical situations all the while ensuring that each guest was fully immersed into the Star Wars story. Communication skills were sharpened through the necessary relay of information to and from fellow cast members, Disney engineers, and leaders at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. All daily procedures were monitored and committed to the high standards of safety, courtesy, story-telling, and efficiency held by the Walt Disney Company. I contributed to giving roughly 1500 guests the opportunity to experience this attraction on a daily basis, and became proficient in themed guest interaction. The program was originally intended to last through May, but was terminated early due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this quaint little pie shop on Kingston Pike, I grew so much in my ability to perform tasks with efficiency and effectively. Most days, I would single-handedly open the shop and start the list of "to-do's" laid out by our Baker and the Manager. Tasks included working the cash register, conversing with and serving customers, preparing large batches of various pie fillings and crusts, creating a healthy environment for necessary team work, maintaining the kitchen area and keeping a clean working space, keeping pies stocked in display cabinets and refrigerators, controlling crowds with kindness and speedy service around holidays and events, and general procedures for up-keeping the restrooms and dining area.

Full responsibility for a cabin of ten 6-9 yr. olds, ensuring that their experience at a sleep-away camp was filled with thrilling, educational experiences in an effort to help each one of them grow physically, spiritually, mentally, and socially. Learned how to operate Front of House responsibilities including taking orders, handling cash, expediting orders, drive-thru services, and general up-keep of the dining room, restrooms, and cash register stations. Though these skills were necessary for daily operations, the most important aspect of working this a fast-paced environment I learned was to complete every task with the customer's best interest, and to always go the Second Mile when serving others.
