- A print, web, and multimedia publication centered around art, fashion, and culture that has 10k+ readers each month. My experience at SPARK permitted the merging of my passion for writing with the exposure and experience to professional creative settings and processes. I conceptualized, produced, and presented a pitch to editors containing my creative vision and story direction. After pitching, I went on to collaborate with the creative departments to merge layout, photography, hair/makeup, and styling talents with my writing. This experience exposed me to both leadership and teamwork allowing me to evolve my communication skills. After several rounds of edits, I gained more confidence in my creative writing skills thanks to the collaboration with other talented writers. Because of the opportunity to work within a small group of fewer than 30 writers despite the hundreds of applicants, I ultimately succeeded in writing a published story centered around the themes of identity, black culture, womanhood, and personal exploration.
