I work in partnership with schools to support the delivery of a new prevention & advocacy initiative aimed at increasing student knowledge of key issues, and their capacity to make a difference. Our primary focus areas for 2020 have been Healthy Relationships, Poverty, Inequality & Homelessness and Mental Health and Wellbeing. I support a small team of Community Educators to deliver the content to students, with the provision of follow up activities to school staff to continue these important conversations in their classrooms. Employment & Projects Facilitator
-
May 2017 - May 2021
Very cool role within an amazing team and alongside incredible young people.I provide job readiness coaching and skills development support to our diverse and motivated crew of residents aged 16 - 25. Most people get their first job (or support to get it) through a friend or family member, but not everyone. I also connect with organisations, businesses and individuals who recognise the assets and talents that young people have, and can offer various opportunities for our young people to get their foot in the door and demonstrate their capabilities. It's hard to beat the feeling of matching the right young person with the right opportunity, seeing them flourish personally and professionally, and having the business super keen to take on more. Get in touch with me to find out how you can make a positive contribution to someone's journey! The '& Projects' part of the role is all the other weird and wonderful opportunities that come across your desk in the NFP sector, that everyone wants to do and that belong to no one else's role in particular. Currently part of 'Change Academy', working in a small team to trial a Human Centred Design process to understand and innovate community and youth leadership at Foyer Oxford. Show less
