I worked for this Shijiazhuang-based educational start-up remotely as a tutor for approximately one year in total. Primarily, I taught English as a foreign language, but I also regularly taught mathematics and science. My main responsibilities included the design of educational materials, lesson planning, and coordinating effectively with an international team of tutors and administrative staff to schedule classes. During the initial tutor training phase, I was ranked as #1 amongst all the new recruits.

Academic Teacher (Genetics)

For one month I worked as an academic teacher for the prestigious Oxford Royale Academy, teaching the Genetics course as part of the Broadening Horizons Programme. As an academic teacher, my main responsibilities included the preparation of teaching materials and lesson plans, giving engaging and thought-provoking lessons, refereeing student debates, marking written assignments and presentations, and offering career and academic advice. I was trained in safeguarding and welfare, fire safety, and health and safety.

Undergraduate Researcher

As part of my third year at the University of Cambridge, I joined the lab of Dr. Michael Imbeault in the Department of Genetics. I was tasked with designing, conducting, and analysing the results of a lengthy research project into the CRISPR/Cas9 protocol, specifically one that would allow for the quantification and comparison of the various available transfection methods. My initial duties consisted of conducting research into the academic literature in order to produce a literature review of the current state of CRISPR research, research which would be used practically in the development of an experimental plan. Further responsibilities included the troubleshooting and solving of technical problems, coordinating effectively with team members and the wider lab community, compiling and analysing results, writing up a project report, and finally presenting my findings.
