  I was the lead developer for Esprit, primarily responsible for developing and maintaining the core business tools: the Stock Control system and the company website. I… Show more I was the lead developer for Esprit, primarily responsible for developing and maintaining the core business tools: the Stock Control system and the company website. Stock Control was a complex client-server application, built using Visual Basic 6, which was mainly used for order processing, adding, editing and searching of stock items and managing customers. My task was to develop new areas, support existing ones and rewrite any poor legacy code (which included many core routines). I was also responsible for the administration of the two large SQL Server 2000 databases (one live, one backup) that powered the system and the transactional replicated data environment that existed between them. Other Visual Basic 6 stand-alone applications I created include: Stock Export (a generic versatile data export tool) and the Target Email Creator (a customer e-mail shot creator for non-technical users). The company’s website used ASP, ActiveX COM+ components (written in Visual Basic 6) for the front-end and plugged directly into the live Stock Control database. I redeveloped, supported and created many new areas of the website. Key to the site success was to ensure full search engine compliance and consequently ranks very highly in Google. I also worked closely with management and the directors to ensure delivery was effective and precise. I helped train the other programmers, designers and marketing to build up their knowledge of Visual Basic, ASP, JavaScript and HTML. I enjoyed the challenge that Esprit provided and I worked hard to deliver in a demanding, high-pressured environment.
