I represented the student voice at meetings with the senior management teams of two universities, a facilities and services provider and the board of trustees. This role required an ability to communicate effectively with different groups of people and understand their needs and pressures to be able compromise on behalf of the students where necessary. In addition, I gave presentations on open days to inform prospective students of the benefits of the Students’ Union. I represented student views on a project to improve sporting facilities on campus. I collected student opinion on what facilities the new building should have and began negotiating with the other stakeholders to achieve this. I gained experience of event management through the administration of beach cleans and building a large waterslide on campus.
