Emerging Global Accounts - EMEA & North America

    • Graduate
      • Nov 2020 - Dec 2021

During my graduate scheme I spent time in several departments across Flint, including delivery, finance, marketing, sales, in addition to a heavy involvement in supporting the incorporation of our youngest entities in North America. I was also gifted the opportunity to heavily collaborate with our delivery team and global regional managers, producing several market intelligence reports towards generating new business opportunities. This enabled a strong foundation of knowledge across the ICT and Telecoms market, whilst giving me the opportunity to hone my research and presentation skills. Show less

    • Intern - Healthcare Claims

      • My time at Lockton introduced me to the world of broking and cemented my appreciation of the importance of offering excellent client service and maintaining strong relationships with all third parties in a commercial setting. I prepared claims analysis (including identifying potential exposures) for the renewal process and witnessed robust negotiations with insurers and law firms on strategic and quantum issues. • I was given responsibility for corresponding with some clients and other external providers including a Chinese law firm. As such, I learnt more about adopting different tone and stance according to your audience. I was given various research tasks and produced succinct reports for the head of healthcare claims which were then utilised with clients. I also assisted with drafting key market, case law and general healthcare updates for external publication, working to tight deadlines and outside of traditional ‘office hours. The experience gave me a broad understanding of the roles and relationship between the broker, insurer and the client when handling claims, and of how to deliver outstanding client service on time. This included data entires for current and prospective clients, as well as helping with seminar preparations. These tasks were highly responsible, demanding consistent attention to detail. • I have also had the opportunity to engage with and greet clients during seminars. • Aug 2018 - Aug 2018

      • Shadowing the senior partner in the commercial litigation department allowed me to have a significant amount of client contact whilst developing trainee style skills. • This included reporting my initial observations back to the partner, drafting two letters before claim for a client, and analysing documents for a breach of contract case. • I received mentoring sessions throughout the week from two associates which allowed me to set objectives and progress, giving me a true reflection of what a training contract would consist of. • I experienced four different departments: Employment, Commercial Litigation, Commercial Property, and Estates across one week. • Taking part in traditional trainee tasks such as drafting land registry applications, and legal research gave me an understanding of the range of work I would be doing during a training contract and allowed me to start building and developing the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a commercial law firm. • Through experiencing a range of seats, I developed a strong understanding of the differing client needs and demands and tailored my approach accordingly. • This scheme also allowed me to develop my negotiating skills through participating in commercial negotiation exercises. This built on my team work skills and the importance of commercial awareness when working in a fast-paced environment. Show less

Mine included mostly writing articles, in addition to a small amount of sales. • My role within sales included contacting regional schools/companies in order to receive funding in return for a section of advertisement space within both of our supplements. However, my main duty involved reporting on events during the festival. Show less
