Bio
Vadim Komarov
I have never enjoyed working for someone more… To me, Olivia embodies the essence of what a (marketing) director should be - aside from a laundry list of technical proficiencies, which span the entire scope of the industry, she has the uncanny ability to constantly elicit the highest possible quality of work from her team. I believe this is the result of her awareness and natural ability to pick up on subtle cues when dealing with employees, which allows her to tailor an approach that will best be received by that individual. Using myself as an example: I am not shy, hard-headed, and expressive. Olivia always allows me the opportunity to plead my case, at times even escalating to the level of shouting. However, we have a mutual understanding - neither of us get upset. If I am able to produce an objectively compelling argument, I am allowed to proceed. If the idea is too far-fetched, she knows when and how to put her foot down. In my case, this needs to be done firmly. And although initially I may continue to disagree, as time passes I tend to understand and concur with her perspective - I have learned to trust her judgement. This also applies to motivation and the evaluation of work. Some individuals are more sensitive, and she delivers constructive criticism with a light touch. If Olivia feels that I have turned in sub-par work or just that I am capable of better, her response is direct, occasionally bordering on insulting. To some this approach would be unproductive, even detrimental to their productivity. However, Olivia understands our dynamic well enough to know that it will only serve to motivate me and the work I turn in will be better for it. Under her supervision, I have made significant gains across the marketing spectrum: from writing and design to strategic planning of initiatives and campaign evaluation.
